It worked! You are a genius, and I worship the ground you walk on, worship your shoes and your socks and your toenails! THE SUN IS SHINING! And all because of your sun dance! You've got to explain to me how you did that!

Well, it did not actually shine on Friday, so no pictures, and it rained and stormed on saturday (my birthday), but now it's Sunday, and it sunny, and I'll be grabbing my coat in a minute so I can run around and enjoy it! :D

Hey you never told me it was going to be your birthday, a perfect e-card opportunity! :D
I'm so glad you finally got some sun! :boogie: I know exactly how you feel you just want to go out and enjoy it! :relax: But one good thing about never getting sun is you'll always have nice wrinkle-free skin! :D

 thanks a lot for your e-card! And the sun was wonderful! It's gone again today, but yesterday was sunny and bright and I got to visit the Landschaftspark Nord, one of the most bizarre places I know...it's a giant old steel production plant, that was closed 20 years ago (I think) and left to rust. They could not take down the whole place for some reason, so they just let it overgrow with trees and vines and left the whole thing to rust. It ended up looking so bizarre that they opened it for the public again, and now everybody can go there, and walk and climb around a scenery that looks as if it fell out of some post-apocalyptic science-fiction movie. Always fun to visit! :D

It is....I have tons of pictures from that place, but never get around to post them somehow...I always feel I didn't do the place justice :-)
Are there places like that near where you live, too?

Not that I know of, here if something starts to get old they tear it down and put up something new in it's place! :( I'm just waiting for them to start doing it to people! :giggle: I loved exploring old places when I was a kid and believe me if I could find some ruins I'd be checking them out!

That's sad...there is a lot of history that ends this way...the industrial epoche might be boring for us, but there should still be preserved buildings for the generations to come I think...like us liking Art Noveau, which was totally out in the fifties.
Old places can have such charm...I visited a village in Sweden once, that had been completely conserved from 18something, and it was completely fascinating :-)

I agree, it is a part of our history plus old buildings have so much character.

I think so too, I've always had trouble getting my stuff to look on the web like it does in Photoshop and this really helped me.

Do you use Photoshop? If you do they have a sharpen tool and a blur tool. That way you can sharpen only the places you want or blur, you can also make it stronger or softer by turning them down or up. Does that help?
I often do just that, sometimes I want one part sharper than the others so I sharpen just that area, it comes in very handy! :D If the whole photo is too blurry I use the sharpen edges filter.

I usually have the blur and the sharpen way down to 7 when I use them, if it still blurs too much turn it down more. It should work for you.

I just downloaded one of the tutorials, the Advanced Extraction Technique... Pretty nice one... I was using alfa channels for things like hair... But I always needed a white background (or almost white), then, some curves in the more contrasted channel to make the subject darker, applying to image an overlay and using the brush in overlay over the alfa channel... It's very cool because you can refine the edges with the brush in overlay mode using black or white color, depending on the necessity... The trick with the woverlay is: you can paint with black over the subject without taking care on the background, becuase outer pixels will wonm't affected. A combination of the advanced extration from the link and the one with the overlay will result in a faster and more accurated way for a smooth cut out  Thanks for sharing the link lady :)

I just added another link on color management in Photoshop also. I don't know about you but when I submit something to the web the colors get much lighter and paler, I'm hoping this will help me with that!
