These are two reasons why I've been gone so long, aren't they adorable! The kit on the left (Louie) I found about 6 1/2 months ago tied up in a plastic bag and thrown into a trash can, can you believe it and he was only around 3 weeks old? I was throwing away some trash at the library when I heard a little "Mew". I wasn't even sure what I heard so I started moving the trash around and that's when I heard "MEOW!!!" The poor thing was at the bottom of the barrel with all these boxes on top of him! Anyway we got him home and taken care of when we thought, "What if there's more?" So we went back down to the park and looked through every single trash can they had, real fun stuff, thankfully we didn't find any more. So here I was feeding every 4 hours, he wasn't quite ready for solid food yet the vet said, when about a week later I was at the grocery store and what do I find? Another kitten (Huey) running around the parking lot scared to death! After chasing him around for about an hour I finally got him in my arms and safely home. It was so time consuming taking care of them, but SO much fun, plus I really needed a break from DA I think. So anyway here I am, hadn't even opened Photoshop in 7 months or so but I gotta say it's so good to hear from you all again, you're definitely the best part of DA for me!
PS Sorry for the dark, bad photo but all the better pics I had of them little were deleted accidentally!
I think these are questions we would always keep asking as it happens rather too much. In the end we have to consider the precious ones we did know about and save and take solace from the fact that we did our best I think... I couldn't get that off my mind yesterday and was very close to tears of despair several times, but I look at my two and that helps bring me back into my reality, which is that these two were saved also from abandonment and trauma, and they are like precious children to us, living like royalty!
You're so right we can only do what we can do and the ones who are lucky enough to end up with you or me are definitely blessed. Our cats can't come inside because we have 2 cat chasing dogs who were here first so we pretty much turned the garage over to them. We put the cars out, laid carpet down and put in a couple of stuffed chairs for them to sleep on but since then we've built a new place for them that's much better. It has carpeted poles going up the wood paneled walls so they can climb up to a carpeted ledge, a second story for them to explore, a window seat, cat trees, etc., etc... Ha ha I should have such a nice place!!
I'm SO glad you were there at the ring time for these two and that you've been able to take them in and nurse them!
