It is fantastic, it reminds me of a Nineteenth Century painting. Some Naturalist or Romantic one.

This is beautiful. All of the pieces in your gallery have the ring of fine art, something I could easily imagine hanging on the wall in an art gallery. You created a dramatic effect here even though it's very soft. It speaks of tranquility, I think that the allure of the piece lies therein.

I don't know if I've ever commented on this piece before but I know I've seen it around in a few other people's fave galleries and I've always loved it. It's simple, elegant, and maybe a tad haunting. It's a classic composition...are you sure some famous painter hasn't done an image similiar to this?

Nicely done. :+fav:

Have you ever seen the painting "Pinky" by Gainsborough? I had that very much in mind when I made this.

I just looked it up b/c I hadn't seen it. It's not Gainsborough, it's Thomas Lawrence's "Pinkie" (at least that's what I can see [link]) but oh my yes your image does indeed reflect similiarities. See I knew it seemed familiar somehow. Love your image b/c it's more contemporary without the hat.

Oh I see "Blue Boy" was painted by Gainsborough. Anyway I used to have "Pinky" hanging in my room when I was little and it left a huge impression on me. I sometimes like to recreate paintings that I like and put my own spin on it. I've been wanting to do a version of "Christina's World" [link] by Wyeth also. I love his work.

Oooh! :wow: That would be gorgeous to see you try to recreate with your vision. I have thought it would be cool to see somebody to try recreate a piece by using hundreds or thousands of smaller images to make up the image. I don't know if that would be possible but it would be cool to see in the end. You know, you'd have to stand back quite a ways to not see the individual images in order to see the whole picture.

Yeah too much work for my 1/2 lazy ass. :giggle: It'd be a good community project. lol Then again, I remember my grandma saying to me about community quilts...where everybody does a square right and then it all gets sewn together. I don't know if community is the right word but you get my drift. My grandma said, "you ever see one of those "community" quilts? Looks like *shit* with everybody's own sewing styles all over it". She never said shit but you get her drift. Everybody stitches different and ties off knots their own way apparently. Anyway she made me think it probably does look like crap if too many hands are in the pot.

That's funny, I was just thinking about a quilting bee this morning! :giggle: But I can imagine how it would look pretty bad with everyone's style all over it!

I'm sorry I missed this one. For months ive been having problems with my dA page.. One day my stuff is all there , then next its not. Its been frustrating to say the least. For the last few days its been working better and I was able to work on my messages and devwatch. So, I am very happy for you and your piece is so very beautiful. As always your work is magnificent
